The Schneider Group is a company with a history. It is a medium-sized international transport company that has been founded in 1865 and is headquartered in Basel, Switzerland. The company employs 620 people at 34 locations in Switzerland, Europe, Asia and the US. Together with their worldwide network of partners, they provide road, air and sea freight transport. They also offer an extensive range of additional services, including customs clearance, logistics, special transport and tailor-made industry solutions.

In the Netherlands, Schneider Expedition BV also offers warehousing in addition to transport services. The company has warehouses in Asten, Aalsmeer and Andijk. Because Schneider follows the needs of its customers, a warehouse has been established in Andijk to provide warehousing services. Schneider was looking for a Warehouse Management System for this location.

 
 

Warehousing

Currently Schneider mainly stores coatings; these are coatings for photo paper and the color fixation of packaging material. These goods are stored in floor locations, soon on racking, and grouped by batch numbers. A distinction is made between 2 different forms of inbound:

– Make to Order: products that are further transported via Crossdocking
– Make to Stock: products that go into storage immediately

The warehousing activities are a growth model for Schneider in the Netherlands. Now that they work with a WMS, the expansion with new customers can easily be facilitated. In CORAX, every customer can gain insight into his own stock at the logistics service provider.
